Since we live in a democracy, majority rules.
When the court makes a ruling it will be based on the constitutionality of the issue. Majority rule has nothing to do with it. If anything courts are needed to protect the minority.

Example.
The majority might not want to allow the KKK to hold rallies but unfortunately it is still their right.

That's gotta be a joke.

How was the Constitution ratified in the first place? By a court with a few judges?

Majorities may set direction, but minority rights are what keep things under control.

Re: Here we go again... "One nation under God"?

I hate "God" and "Christianity" more than anyone I know, and even I think this is stupid. You don't have to say the damn pledge if you don't want to, and "so help you God" doesn't have to mean anything to you. Quit being a wordy little bitch.

Re: Here we go again...

I think they all need to STFU! Logically thinking if this were in any other country they'd...

A. be publicly ridiculed for the rest of there life
B. be stoned to death or something
C. be dissowned from there family
D. (china) Said they were going against the goverment be dragged away to some hole an never seen again or be shot on the spot.

These people need to take a hint an fuck off! Trying to change what our creators made is just wrong and these people should be publicly ridiculed to the max. If they have a problem send them to prvate school's because obvously they have the money to go up against the goverment!

QFT, what you just said makes a hole lot of sense. You usually go to school for 6-8 hours, and the pledge takes about 30 seconds. I have a feeling the next generation of kids are gonna be some serious pussys/butt pirates

Wow, I leave for a little while and this is what happens to the forum... Way to drop the ball, guys.

From a freedoms and rights point of view, those words should not be in the pledge of allegiance. From a sane point of view, there should be no pledge of allegiance... that's just weird, guys. I don't know of any other western nation that has anything similar, really.

At one elementary school I attended, we had to sing the national anthem once a week, no big deal to me. The Canadian national anthem has "God" references, including "God keep our land, glorious and free". I object to this, considering our current national anthem was only adopted because our previous national anthem, "The Maple Leaf Forever" was rife with references of the English thumping the French and taking Canada, and it galled the Quebecois, so they changed it.

Re: Here we go again... "One nation under God"?

We sing it everyday, and no one really cares. We've been doing it our entire education, its just part of the day.
