girlfriend thinking about buying wrx AT

My girlfriend currently has a ford focus, and she is tired of having a slow car. I was wondering how worth it it is to buy a wrx with an AT. She cant drive a stick otherwise it would be no question. Does anyone know the difference in performance between the automatic and manual?

Performance should be the same. Obviously you can time your shift a little better with a stick shift. If she cant drive stick why dont you be a good boyfriend and teach her. I will teach her if you want for a price LOL JK.

That's a bit of an understatment. I drove 9-3x automatic at the autoshow in motion, and it was a sheer pain. Please do not buy an auto wrx. I also vote for teaching her how to handle the stick.

well, teaching her is out of the question. We live in chicago where there is a lot of traffic, and she doesnt want a stick as a daily driver. So I guess we should just be looking at something else?

If you want to disseminate false information, do so in your Nissan forum please.

Re: girlfriend thinking about buying wrx AT

so again, i still dont have an answer. My girlfriend really wants a car with a turbo. Should she not get the auto wrx? I mean, how much slower is it? does anyone know 0-60 times or 1/4 mile times for the auto?

I ain't laughing, if you want to piss post, go somewhere else on AF.

vdubracer, the auto is around 2 seconds slower on the 1/4, I don't have the times in front of me but I do know that info has been posted here before.
Believe me, your girlfriend will be much happier in the long run to get the manual, learn to drive stick, and enjoy the true characteristics of the WRX. The auto detracts from the driving experience in my opinion.
