transmission blew up

i have a 99 neon sport(DOHC) and i was on my way home from an auto show and i noticed smoke and the transmision slipping. (Its had transmision problems so slipping is usual) got home looked under the car and all of the transmision fluid had actually drained out. i got under it and cant tell where its coming from... im a mechanic but i dont know transmisions that well yet any ideas?

Re: transmission blew up

uhhh check the casing for crack/hole, hole in the fluid pan your fluid pan gasket deteriorated away your fluid cooler line broke/disconnected from the radiator.

your best bet is to jack it up completly clean the trans put fluid in it and watch to see any leakage

Re: transmission blew up

Put more fluid in, then keep a clean large sheet of white contruction paper under the vehicle when you start it. You'll get a location from which to look.

Re: transmission blew up

could have a plugged transmission breather, did it bow it out of the dipstick. Also check your seals on each cv joint. I do think, since it was slipping before it's time for a rebuild. Everyone is right you should beable to tell where it came from.Best of luck
