Im gonna paint my truck and ive already done the body work, sanded and primed it with spray paint. I then bought professioinal automotive paint and i have a spray gun and air compressor to paint it with i just need some tips on how i should paint it without getting any drips or miss any spots or anything like that... well lets hear what you have to say

yeah i have that same problem with my truck. im in the middle of a frame up restoration and i am getting closer and closer to being done with filler work and soon i hope to get a coat of self etching primer on the cab. I think you are supposed to let the primer cure all the way then sand it and put the top coats on after using filler primer to smooth the surface. i heard tho that some primers need to be top coated before they are completely cured or else you have to put another top layer of primer on to ensure adhesion of the topcoat.
my main question is how i go about painting the interior of the cab. a book i bought said to do the inside first then the outside, but how would you paint the outside right up to the finished inside? do you sand a little on the finished paint and then go from there and put clear over it when you're done or just mask it off? thats whats got me all confused right now lol |
