my db's
a local stereo shop had a car show/audio comp. this weekend....i entered the audio comp.
what i have: 1996 Cavalier Pioneer deh-2600 cd player (dont like to well) audiopipe 4x6 in the door Soundstorm 1400 watt amp (i know its crap but i didnt need much) soundstorm 6x9 (until i cut out for my much more expensive audiobahn that i bought and didnt fit) 2 12" pyramid hyper pro's (i know its more crap but i got em both about 2 years ago for 70 for each incl. shipping.) and i was in class 1 with the shop owners brother in a camaro with 3 10's (hit a 141 or 142) a freind with a celica with 15" L5 (hit a 139.8 i think) then me (hit a 137.2) a friend in a older nissan truck hit a 136.? and then in class 2 a friend hit a 135.? in a ranger with a cut through with 3 or 4 ma audio 10's i personally think that my crappy system did alright if you know how many db's you hit...post it j/w what everyone else hits

there's a lot of things you can do to maximize your dB's ..... the biggest thing is tuning/ tweaking the box to match the sub to the car.

Re: my db's
speaking of competitions, I don't remember what the guy was running, it was walled off. he he a 160.1db (new TL was what i was told they were using) I was amazed that someone scored that high for just the local comp.
Edit*, I think he was using 4 atomics?????? ported, in a little ass car if i remember right. |

2-12" polks made back in 94-96 pushing them wth a profile ca-400m at half power so between 75-100rms power in a 2.50ft3 box or 1.25ft3 each hit 139 not sure on the mic. Finally made a box got tired of the pos prefab off ebay. We have the comps up here all the time either at the local shops (the praise audiobahn and kicker, assholes) or at MIR when they have any showcar or import race. Should have seen the look on the owner of the shops face when my subs hit that, il post a pic they have scuff marks and one of them has electric tape on the sorround to help cover a gash.

Cant remember who posted it but if you see it give yourself credit Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota. Cardomain |
