Trouble With Passenger Sliding Door

I Just Bought A 2000 Windstar From A Friend Of Mine. He Bought It New And He Said He Has Always Had Trouble With The Sliding Door On The Passenger Side. It May Open And Shut Fine For 20 Times And Then It May Go Several Times Where You Have To Get Out And Try To Force It Shut Which Sometimes Is Hard To Do. Has Anyone Else Had This Problem And What Could Be The Cause ? Thanks

Take a look in the tracks. Remove all of the hair ties, pens, paper clips, and what ever else has gotten in there.

I'm not sure what's doing it but there has got to be a reason when it gets harder to close.

Re: Trouble With Passenger Sliding Door

Can you give more details. Does it stay completely open and then you force it closed, or does it partially close (one click) and you have to push it the rest of the way closed? Is it closing then opening back up? More details might help.

My friend bought the van new in 2000 and said he had always had trouble with the passenger door not closing at times. He didn"t bother having it fixed seeing as he hardly ever used it. It may open and close great for 20 times and then it may not close at all the next 4 or 5 times. I have never had a problem opening it. It is when you try to close it sometimes it won"t close. When you use the remote to try to close it you can see the door move just a little, but won"t close. You can try to close it manually but it is very hard to close that way.
