I have a 98 taurus w/ 3.0l 24v dohc.....when i first put it into gear it jerks forward really hard....and when it gets warmed up it feels like it will slip out of gear when i turn and slam back into gear when i hit the gas again, and taking off from a dead stop it feels like it slams into gear....thought maybe this was a motor mount issue....car has 132,000 miles on it....PLEASE HELP

Re: 98 taurus.....motor mounts???
open the hood with the engine on and trans in neutral and have someone floor the engine, if the engine violently rocks back and forth, then its a mount, if not, then its a transmission problem that is probably best solved with a rebuild/replace.

the problem turned out to be nothing transmission related, the front upper & lower cradle mounts were shot, installed new ones...problem solved
