93 JGC single button remote

now it seems that the earlier 93 models #s before vin 500,000 came with single button remotes for entry & alarm. This is what i have and have never heard anyone else on this forum saying they have this too. However my remote is cracked and i think its on its way out. This is the only means of disarming the alarm system, trying the key in the doors & liftgate dont work. I need a replacement. I ve obtained two 2-button remotes that are for 93-95. They resemble the remote on the owners manual. I ve tried the programming procedures, but they wont work. My chime module is discoed' so i have no power locks therefore no arming of system, so the only time the alarm comes on is when i reconnect the battery, then i have to carefully use the cracked remote.
Now i ve contacted 2 NY dealers for a remote. They say they need my jeep to program it. I DONT LIVE IN THE USA. Im Pissed.
Anyone else got a 93 with a single button remote.?
I think the dealers are lying & concerned about security issues.
What should i do?
BTW, would weak batteries still light up the red light on the 2 button remotes. I would love if these could work.

Re: 93 JGC single button remote

Those remotes can't be programmed. They are specific to the module. The module has a sticker with a number on it and you need that to order the right remote.I'm not sure if they are even available anymore. The last time I worked on one of those ,I ended up replacing the module bacause it came with 2 remotes and was almost the same price as a single remote.

Re: 93 JGC single button remote

When u say module do you mean overhead console section or the remote itself? What if i get a new console on ebay, could i be able to program the 2 button remotes now.

Re: 93 JGC single button remote

There is a module in the overhead console.A module for a 2 button system is wired differently.
