No Trace Of Cd Changer Cable?

Hi, I am trying to fit a CD changer to my 2000 Grand Cherokee, popped the rear right pannel off but no cable to be seen. It is the 8 Pin Round one, excuse the none technical speak, to the 8 pin square plug. I can see it at the rear of the head unit it goes out and tracks right with the main lume, but it does not emerge in the wires once they come down the side trim to the amp - any clues on where it might have been stashed behind the dash? I have a blue cable wrap at the rear of the vehicle but its empty? Thanks in advance any help appreciated if I don't find it fast I might aswell go and get another cable!
