Re: Cuba offers 1100 fully self-sufficient Doctors deployable within 72 hours.
If Halliburton can do the best job at the lowest cost, then they should get the work.
If, however (and this was T4's point I believe) they were selected by Cheney due to some loyalty (or kickback) on his part, then it is improper, probably illegal, and shows a complete lack of integrity for Halliburton to be chosen.

If that were the reason. However, considering its a "Haliburton Watch" site. I hardly believe they're going to teat them evenhandedly.

Point made. But the whole reason for a Halliburton watch website is that there was something funny going on to start with. Touche' and won't be solved by us, as we'll probably never hear the truth of the situation.

Well, it looks like Cuba's got it's answer. It seems like kind of an odd situation to me, but if Castro's willing to bury the hatchet temporarily to send medical aid, I don't see why we shouldn't accept it Unless of course we don't need it, then I suppose a polite "no" would do the job. It's pretty obvious the U.S. government's snubbing him though, since they're taking aid from pretty much any other country that offers it. I'll be interested to see what happens to U.S./Cuban relations when Castro passes away (he's getting up there in age, isn't he?) It's always been kind of comical to me how the mere mention of Communism in the U.S. is like oil and water. Why does our government fear it so much? I highly doubt the American people would just blow off 200+ years of democracy for a system that means well, but always seems to ultimately end up being mishandled as a victim of its own internal politics. And we're never able to get solid readings on communist countries either, even when they're proving (seemingly) successful, like China for instance. While socializing or some hybrid form of it is an intriguing concept for certain domestic services that are really hitting hard times (healthcare for instance) I don't ever see it as any type of threat to our current form of government. At any rate, it seems like business as normal for U.S./Cuban relations
