I was replacing the front crankshaft oil seal on my '96 metro, 1.3L and I noticed a groove in the crankshaft. Is there a sleeve kit available? The Chiltons manual says that if you have a groove worn in the crankshaft, a new seal will not work, and still leak.

I don't know if one is available. You might try Napa. I put a new front main seal in my 1972 Ford F100 pickup. I had a groove in the crankshaft and the seal failed in a few months. I got a cheap sleeve with a plastic driver to seat it and no problems in the following 200,000 miles. The other possibility is to see if you can install the new seal so that it is not contacting the groove. Good luck.
