Question Eclipse tranny question

Hey everybody I have a 91 Eclipse GST and I need a new tranny. I found a five speed tranny out of a 1.8 non turbo, my question is will a five speed n/a tranny work for a 2.0 fwd turbo? Thankyou for any input. I also have a 91 3000gt 3.0 v6 N/A still runnin stock just above 200hp but anyway I have heard rumors that the trannys in 91 eclipse's will also work for the gto, and if that is the case I would rather fix my gto :-) you know what I mean... Again thanks for any input

Re: Eclipse tranny question

The insides are the same, and the belhousings are different. What I dont know is if you can bolt the 3s bellhousing to the 2.0 fwd turbo trans.

Re: Eclipse tranny question

From everything I know the FWD Turbo DSM transaxles are the same as the FWD 3S transaxles. Both are the F5M33 (or 32).

The internals are the same but one will not bol up with the other. The case is completely different.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your time I am still unsure though... The tranny in my eclipse is stuck in second so I have been told that it would be fixable with a rebuild kit, but, the differential pin shot out of the case in the tranny of the 3s ... So should I rebuild the eclipse tranny? Or should I just buy two tranny's??? Thanks again
