Hi all,
I am currently looking at a high mileage 1999T Galant estate (114,000 miles) and have noticed a transmission noise that I think might be the gearbox (maybe a bearing). Is this a common issue? Do these 'boxes just make a little noise as they get old, or am I looking at a replacement sometime soon? The noise occurs during driving with the clutch engaged and is there when under power and on over-run. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Advice on buying a 1999 Galant estate please
Had one with 80k making the same noise. The new owner has fitted a new box now, but only 'cause he didn't like the noise! I know of at least 2 others that have been similar. The noise I am talking about is like a dry bearing echoing through the box. The noise will change as you engage and disengage the clutch whilst stationary.
