vr4 is hurt. wtf happen?
on my way home from loosing 30 bucks at the casino, just cruising on the freeway at about 2 in the morning, i spot a porche 944 turbo s.
at first i just pace him cause he didnt seem like he was game, so i just slowly speed up, and he does the same. next thing you know i look down and were cruising at 100mph, so now i'm thinking "this guy has to want to race" so i let off the sound of the bov and spooled up to about 110mph, but he didnt bite. so now i'm dissapointed cause i thought i had a race to post for you guys but this fish isnt hungry. then to my suprise he lines up on the side of me at about 70mph, i look over and he downshifts and punches it, i then hit it in 4th just to see if i could hold him at a weak rpm. as i see its not working he's pulling a car and a half on me in a few seconds. i downshift to 3rd at about 90-100mph and his car lengths literally went from his 1 and a half gain to me having a 2 car length lead in about 5 seconds at 120mph. i'm now at 6500rpms and my car isnt running good. it never stays in the 6k area for so long, whats taking it so long to get to 125mph? i look back and i still have my 2 car lengths turning into 2 1/2, finally i get to about redline 6900 rpms and i shift to 4th at about 123mph. i feel the car vibrating really bad, wtf? so i shut down and he did also. i'm checking all my gauges..... boost, heat, af/ratio, oil pressure everything looks good. but my 4th gear is vibrating really bad. as i slow down and downshift to 3rd at 65, the guy in the porche gives me a honk and gets off the freeway. my third gear seems to be fine untill i slow down and then 3rd starts vibrating, really bad. i get off the freeway and 2nd is vibrating. get to the light and my house is 8 blocks away, but i see smoke coming from under the hood. fuck!!! i pull into the am pm and pop the hood, oil is everywere, all over the top of the engine. well, i'm sure thats my last race of the year, i'll need to save up big time and get this fixed. whatever it is. headgasket, blown motor.... it will be a few months before i get it fixed. but does anyone know, or have an idea what just happen to my car, before i figure it out at the shop?

mabey a tranny problem... check your engine oil. if the engine oil is good then it just might be the tranny that messed up and got oil everywhere.

There was oil all over the engine? and it was smoking from under the car? AND YOUR OIL PRESSURE GUAGE WAS READING NORMAL? WTF????
I dont think it was the head-gasket. I have driven cars with blown head gaskets and oil drips down but never gets over the engine. it could of been from the valvecover gasket but that would not explain the rattling........unless, unless you blew the valve cover or the the cam-shaft gasket and drove all the oil out of the engine, the shaking could of come from frinction between the pistons and the cylinder wall. I've seen cars shake and rattle violently, stall, shut off if they are driven without any oil in the engine. but if it where that case your oil warning light would of come on and the preasure guage would of read low.

Yeah, start checking all your fluids and find out what is low. Try and find the source of the oil...I know it will be a pain, but try, because that will help immensly.
Sorry to hear about that though. Why does nobody's car want to stay healthy?

mine is healthy. i just got her all put back together (just shy of the driver side sideskirt) after my accident in May. i'll post pics elsewhere soon.

well if it was tranny fluid, there is no way it would be on the top of the engine, and gear oil stinks and is VERY easy to spot.

True you have a good point... it would smell like dog crap, cause thats just how it is, and yeah i didnt think about it being on top of the egine...

if it's all over the top of the engine, my guess would be the valve cover, or the pcv valve.

just a sujestion and mabey too far fetch but MABEY just mabey the leak is on the top of the tranny and the positive crank pressure from when he was racing shot all the tranny fluid to the top of the engine bay.

let me correct my self before anyone else does its not crank pressure... but there is a pressure build up in the tranny as the gears spins... i dont know what you would call that. yes crank pressure is for the crank and oil... but i ment the pressure in the tranny.

MTX's dont have presure in them. I would bet on a valve cover or head gasket. The first thing I would do is check compression.

A few "bolt on" mods, a couple "cut, smash, hammer, weld, etc" mods, and a couple "why the hell do I need this/what the hell is this" weight reductions. |
