Delta 88 Keyless Entry Programming help please?

I purchased a new Keyless Entry Remote (KOBUT1BT) for our 96 Delta 88, and have been trying to into "Program Mode" with no success.

I've tried both the "Hold down the Drivers Side Power UNLOCK button and turn the ignition on/off twice" method as well as the "Short connectors #4 & #8 of the OBDII connector with the key in" method..

These methods indicate that either (a) The door locks will cycle, indicating you're in programming mode, or (b) you'll hear a CHIRP to indicate you're in programming mode" -- I get neither.

I've also tried to just add the remote with both methods *anyway* (holding down LOCK/UNLOCK on the remote for up to 30 seconds) and the remote will just not program..

Could someone please assist with this problem? It's driving me batty.

Many thanks!

Could it be because I'm using a paperclip to short pins #8 & #4 of the DLC? I've put a multimeter on it, and although there's no voltage, both pins do complete a grounding circuit.

I've fought with it for another hour today, trying everything to get it into Programming Mode, with no success.

Re: Delta 88 Keyless Entry Programming help please?

Well, I still haven't been able to get it into Programming Mode. To top that off, I had to disconnect the battery yesterday (corroded posts) to clean them, and that reset the alarm so that it's "active".. I can still unlock the car (with the key, of course), start it, and drive it, but because I can't "deactivate" the alarm the lights blink and the horn blows for 30 seconds every time I start it.

*Sigh*

Anyone know of a way to deactivate the alarm without the remote, or am I now destined to visit the dealer and have them charge me an arm and a leg to program the darn thing?

Re: Delta 88 Keyless Entry Programming help please?

Sametrouble here. MY PROBLEM is finding the Data Link Center, Mine does not look like what directions I got with the new fob. Under the driver's side is the eight row x 2, however, there is a big square grid with other connectors. Where #4 should be is an orange wire and where I figure 3* is is a blank plug.

Hey, Buddy! Am I anywhere close to the DLC??? This stuff Imentioned is attached to the driver's side under dash panel.

If I hear from you i will have better knowledge. I tried the 4 and 8 with a piece of wire with no response with the ignition key on or off000with both doors OPEN. Do the doors need shut then?

Well, any help is appreciated. Another day, another try.
