Bad noise in the rear
There is a bad clunk sound in the rear of my truck whenever i am making a slow trun, or u-turn. my buddy said that it could be the barkes grabbing or it is the spider gears. The sound will go away as soon as i speed up and drive away. i just replaced the differental fluid like 3 days ago so i know thats good. if it is the rear does anyone know where i can get one from like a junk yard or something. i live in maryland so if there is anything kinda close that would help alot. thanks for the help

Re: Bad noise in the rear
Did the problem start after replacing the diff fluid? If you have POSI, then you need to add the POSI additive; otherwise, the clutches (for the POSI) will make noise with sharp turns.

no the noise started before i replaced the fluid. a friend of mine said that he had the same problem and jsut had to change the fluid. yes i know i have to add that additive but i used amsoil 75w 140 and i heard that amsoil already has it in there. but i could be wrong. when i replaced the fluid i didnt notice any large chunks out of any of the gears. there was just the normal shavings stuck to the maget at the bottem. thanks for the help

Re: Bad noise in the rear
I put Mobil 1 75-90 in my Impala SS when I first got it. Did not add the additive. Noise started a few days later on tight turns. Added a bottle of GM additive and I have not heard another noise out of it.
