A.I.R removal

I am planning to remove that stupid pump. Well I was wondering if this is gonna plug my cat up when its in open loop? (stock cat which I wont remove because I am selling the car)
As long as I know it should not impact emmisions since we do them when the engine is hot.

Re: A.I.R removal

Shouldn't hurt anything.

You may need to have the codes removed from the computer depending on year.

Re: A.I.R removal

Why are you going to remove the A.I.R. system if you are selling the car?

It should mainly effect your emissions in open loop, but air is also injected at various other times such as deceleration and at full throttle when mixture is overly rich.

Re: A.I.R removal

I am doing some work on it and the pump with those hoses gets on the way. Right now i am thinking about stealing that cat too since the car just passed emissions to make some more power and noise. I instaled 3 inch flomaster exh on it with a mandril bent pipe (sounds nice but I want it loud). I will just give the cat to the guy who will buy the car to pass next test. The car is pretty fast now.
Thats 305 TPI so no code problems. And the removal of both will only benefit..

Re: A.I.R removal

How come it injects air in other situations? Would not that mess the O2 sensor?

Re: A.I.R removal

*sigh*

so youre taking it off because you dont have emissions testing, but youre looking to sell it, what if that person lives in an area with emissions testing? youre gonna create a headache for them for no reason. The A.I.R. serves a purpose, and does not hurt performance, and actually is good for performance because by lowering emissions it keeps the tree huggers off our backs, there is no reason to take it off perminantly.

Re: A.I.R removal

I have that problem cats, because i had two that plugged or cracked. I am sorta paranoid now.

Also i learned that the pump does inject the air into the cat when decelerating or when the ECM is in that diagnostic mode.
