Re: quality? THM350 or 700R4 transmission

700r4 is a four speed auto, 4th being overdrive. the th350 is the basic 3 speed auto. its not a question of which is tougher, its up to u whether u want an OD tranny or just the basic 3 spd. either is plenty tuff enuf unless ur really makin big hp and torque, especially the th350

Re: quality? THM350 or 700R4 transmission

either one can be built for power, my 700-R4 can handle 600hp, but a stock unit has a signifigantly lower power handling ability. for a daily driver street strip unit, i would go with the 700-R4, if your building a drag car, i would go with the TH350.

Swap Out

I am taking out a THN400-700R4 and putting in a THM350, my question is, on the 400 there is a small wire harness that pluged in on the tail section of the transmisson, but there is no place to plug that wire harness into on the 350.

I believe the plug you're referring to is for the torque converter clutch, sounds like the converter in the 350 doesn't lock-up. It's not necessary, but your engine will rev a little higher when cruising, and you will get a bit poorer gas milage if the converter doesn't lock-up.
