Race tips for power?

I have a pretty well sponcered Thunder stock series Bonni, 90, that has to "remain stock" Is there any little tricks we can do to help get a few more ponnies? i gutted out the cats and per rules ripped off every little bit of plastic I can find. but the added weight of the roll bar will hurt us. I do have access to a scan tool. is there a way to advance timing, or lean the A/F a little with my tool? removing/plugging the EGR, would that help? im trying to think of stuff that could be done that wont be noticed. its a bummer its not a super charged tho thanks for the help.

PS. im in Idaho, down by twin falls if anyone wants to come by and see me race at the magic valley speedway.

So you race a 1990 Bonneville? I'd love to see pictures if you have any.

Cheap mods don't usually pan out to much. You can gut the air box which may help some. If you haven't already, a GOOD tuneup is the best thing you can do and remain stock. If you have a lot of miles on it try switching to a higher octane. While you generally don't need it, carbon deposits and other wear factors may change octane requirements slightly.

thanks for the info. tupe up has been done. was thinking of running higher octane, but not sure. Was hoping for info as far as manaully setting the timing ahead a few deg's or something... changing the AF ratio using the scan tool.. i dont know. something using the scan tool. or is it just that? ONLY for scanning, not for changing? Cuz I know that during the diags, you can change things. wanted to know if i could change them. then leave them in the PC.... thnx

by the way, anyone know the best backpressure and how to get it on this car? I called the dealership, they said that you should run open headers. The rules state that in my class the exhaust must be 18" long, i have been running a glass pack thus far, but feel its robbing horse power.

well she is almost ready for race day. few q's. when im driving down the road and she warms up, if i let her idle. the rpm's go up about 50 rpm, then drop down 50 rpm, then up.... and down.... i checked for vac leaks. anything else i should be looking for? i have ripped a sht load of stuff out of the car for race day. but mostly just radio.. heater... etc.

I reccomend using good tyres...and for stock...consider using premium instead of regular

what size are the injectors so i can upgrade them?

pics of "bonnie" any ideas on power yet? how about fuel pump and injector upgrades? what ones should i use?
