What are a good set of rims for a firebird?

Lately I've been wondering what would be a good look for my bird and well, I've decided to put 17s in the back and keep 16s in the front (I believe my formula has 16s bt i coul dbe wrong). Anyway, i would really like to put 18s in the back but a dealership told me i would be unable because i wouldn't have the room. Well, thats why I've come to you guys. What is the largest rim i can put in the back and what is a good set that will keep my car looking classy. Keep in mind I need 2 different sizes byt a matching pair (but of course you all knew that). Does anyone have any suggestions and possibly a link so I can browse a selection? Thanks.

www.americanracing.com was a nice selection and a page that lets you see em on your exact vehicle, correct color and all.

I see no reasons why 18" wouldn't fit in the rear. They should go in fine. Well, at least that's what this guy I know told me. Here's a pic of his bird. He's got 18" in the rear and 17" up front. I'm gonna be doing the same thing, with the same rims.

Re: What are a good set of rims for a firebird?

HM... thats odd because i wanted to put 18's in the back as well but the pontiac dealership told me that they wouldnt fit... so i'm going to have to settle for 17s. Also, when i turn the wheel to and extreem right or extreem left my from wheels rub against the black plastic guard inside the wheel well. Is this normal? or are the wheels in the from of my car too wide? Also, if i put 17's up front the rubbing will only get worse even though it would look nice.

well. jus from the pic in ur avatar, looks like you have some xtremely fat tires. thats part of the rubbing issue, and the other, is that it does that with stock rims and tires. if u notice that plastic guard is pretty flexible to compensate.

Re: What are a good set of rims for a firebird?

well thats good to know that every bird does that, i was afraid that the rubbing would cause a problem, it is a little embarassing when trying to pull into a parking spot and the tire rubs and makes an irritating sound but other than that no harm right? Also, the pic in my avart and sig isnt my bird, i've yet to take any pic of her but i really should. When i get home today i'll take a few for yall to see. Anyway, 18s are ok in the back right? would 18s in the back and 16s in the front look weird? i mean i would like my car to have that sort of "Dragster" look to it.

Re: What are a good set of rims for a firebird?

im gonna attempt 18;s in the back and 17;s in the front. gonna have to go low profile though. And yes, mine did rub with the tires i put on for a lil while, but i burnt some of the tread off then it stopped . Ill let u know how my experiment goes and ill post a few pics, might be 2 or 3 weeks before i can get them on though, money problems.

Re: What are a good set of rims for a firebird?

Money problem on my end too, looking at borla cat back right now. Just put Duals on my bird 3 months ago but they arent exactly what i wanted... and well, i hate settleing for less. But seriously, would the standard 16's in the front look dwarfed by the 18's in the back? The guys at my office are giving me a 50/50 answer so, i'm still tossed up. I want a nice aggressive look to my car but not make look rediculous.

Re: What are a good set of rims for a firebird?

idk, i think you would have a major issue with the front end clearance like that. you would probably tear off ur ram air piece.
