f22 for my ek?

I'm sure people have done it, so i was wondering how hard it is and how much money it would cost to put an s2000 engine and rear wheel drive in my 96 cx. Any info would help thanks.

Re: f22 for my ek?

your looking at boatloads of work and money for this conversion, i cant even fathom the amount of fabricating that would need to be done in order for this to work. stick with an h b or even k series now, the money you save from converting your car to the s2k motor will more than be enough for heavy mods.

Re: f22 for my ek?

Yeah, if you need to ask how hard it would be, then theres no way in hell you have the knowledge to do it. Throw a K20 in there. Or a boosted H22.

forget the rwd and the s2000 motor. like everyone else has said just get a B, H, or K series.

This forum is stupid, everyone just rips on people who come here to learn about their car. what is wrong with wanting to try something new? i was just wondering if it is totally crazy to try to make a rear wheel civic cause i kinda don't want to be like everybody else and get a normal swap. but whatever i got some sarcastic shit instead.

Re: f22 for my ek?

The only reason were being sarcastic is becuase theres no way in hell you know enough/have enough skill to do it. If it was somewhat easy to do you would see many rwd civics.

Re: f22 for my ek?

I've seen 'em, and pondered doing the same. Overall, it's totally not worth it. If you want RWD, go get something that's RWD to start with.

Strictly speaking, it'd be almost as difficult to do a front-engine, RWD conversion on a Civic as it would be to do a rear-engine, RWD conversion. So if you're going to do a RWD conversion on a Civic, just make it a rear-engine too and go whole hog. Make yourself an NSX in Civic drag.

Just to make this post worth posting, a quick rundown on what you would have to do to do a RWD conversion on a Civic

-relocate/replace fuel tank
-relocate shifter mechanism (EK only)
-relocate exhaust system
-fabricate engine mounts, transmission mounts, and rear transaxle mounts
-replace rear suspension, almost completely
-completely replace wiring harness, custom work needed

and so many other pieces of insanity would be needed, that it isn't worth it. for the price of that conversion, you could have an H22a built that would generate assloads of power, AND fix the suspension to handle the extra weight and power correctly.

Re: f22 for my ek?

i gave you a no bullshit response to your question, after seeing this question 6000 times since ive been here, im gonna answer the way i did, and i dont blame anyone else for doing the same.

to convert a car to a completly different drivetrain is not worth for the cost that would be involved. like he said, just go get a RWD car and start with that, like a 180sx or 240 or something even a damn miata is a great platform to work off of for rwd.

Re: f22 for my ek?

heh, "damn miata". one of those little bastards beat you one too many times on the autocross course?

I've got a buddy with one, they're pretty swift and nimble, but you've either got to be short (he is) or a contortonist (I'm not) to fit in one. I sat in his driver's seat- I'm not seriously sure I could drive it. An MGB has more space in the footwell.

His '88 GDM BMW, however... h'oy, would I love to own that. If you want a RWD car for autocross or drifting, an old-skool bimmer isn't a bad choice at all.

Zee Germans, they are effing genious with the car design.
