Frozen pulley fan nut
Have a 99 JGC and the dealer has had my car for two days now trying to remove the big nut that fastens the fan (clutch) to the pulley in order to replace the water pump behind it. They are trying to do it from above and have boogered the nut pretty bad. Are they just being lazy about removing enough stuff to get at it with a wrench and pipe extension? Also, do you think they might be turning it the wrong way? They said they're "soaking it with some liquid wrench." I'm getting tired of dropping off the car each morning! Suggestions?

Re: Frozen pulley fan nut
I think they are just being lazy, it shouldn't be on there that tight anyways. I would take it to another shop (non dealer).

They are ripping you off. Mechanics have all the tricks of the trade.
Dont pay them a cent and tow it to another shop. |

Re: Frozen pulley fan nut
those things are usually hard to take off-if you don't do it right.there is a wrench for it(36 millimeter) and another tool for holding the pulley. It sounds like you got some back-woods retard trying to take it off with an air hammer(i have seen it done like that)I would suggest taking it to someone with a brain
