transmition problem

i have a 1994 grand am with the 3.1 when i gun it it changes to second all right but it has a problem going into 3 now if i drive it like normal it changes into 3 no problem and i hopping its somehting simple to fix if anyone can help thanks. its a 4 gear tranny

Have you had any tranny work done in the past? You don't list the mileage, has the fluid been changed?

its got almost 300000km on it i changed the fluid and the filter there was no medal chip on the megnet and there was no work done on it
