06 Camry Auto-Lock question
Silly question time, my mother just got 06 Camry LE and when she drives, the doors lock, however unlike her old Camry, when she stops, the doors do not automatically unlock. Is this normal behaviour? Is there a way to change it to auto-unlock?
She does not have an alarm, if this matters. Thanks -M |

Re: 06 Camry Auto-Lock question
I don't know, but you should be able to find out by reading her owner's manual.

Re: 06 Camry Auto-Lock question
Try this. Move shift lever to P and close all doors. Turn ignition switch to the "ON" position. Then, quickly, within 10 seconds push and hold the main power door lock switch in the unlock position for 5 seconds. All doors will automatically lock and unlock when you release the power door lock switch. This puts the auto door lock function to Mode B. If it doesn't work retry and do it with the time limits I gave. The 5 seconds has to be almost exact.

Re: 06 Camry Auto-Lock question
Someone at Toyota has way too much time on their hands figuring out these codes.

Re: 06 Camry Auto-Lock question
Max-97CivicEx, there are 4 different modes for the door locks. There is info in the owners manual on how to change the locking preferences. The various modes are for the service techs and the pre-delivery inspection people if they have to disconnect the battery for some reason which puts the door locks into the default mode. For some reason trucks are mode a,b,c,d and cars tend to be mode 1,2,3,4. When the battery is disconnected it returns to default setting mode 1 which keeps the doors locked when the transmission is in P. 1, 4 keep doors locked and 3 "unlocks" the door in P. I haven't seen the 06 Camry but if it has the interior light switch on the left side of the dashboard by the door then it must be rotated to the DOOR position which is the line below the ON position. Because the interior lights blink with the various settings. I can go on forever but the easiest solution is to READ the OWNERS MANUAL, it's in there.
