88 s10 problems

i have a 1988 s10 with a 2.8...when i was going to work the other morning the truck all of a sudden started to lose power. I looked down and the fuel was alright so didnt think anything of it right away....after work when i was going home it was running alright till i got out in the country, i was losing power again and couldnt go any faster than 35mph unless i found a hill. When i got home the truck was making a weird noise like half the engine was getting fuel so i changed the fuel filter...that helped for getting more fuel into the tbi but it didnt help with the noise....next i changed the wires and the ignition coil and cap&rotor....still didnt help... the plugs dont have very many miles on them but i was planning on changing them to give it a try after that im stumped.

Hope someone else could help me maybe.

Scott

might as well change out plugs, air filter and pcv. if that doesnt seem to help do a fuel pressure check( should be 9-14psi). ckeck for vaccum leaks.

the noise i keep hearing is from the engine bogging down. i changed the plugs and tried a different throttle body but still the truck isnt running right. I have good fuel pressure. I was thinking about unhooking the exhaust to see if my problem could be there. i dont think it is but thats just another suggestion that i can think of. i was gonna try to move the truck into the garage after i got the throttle body on. well when i tried there was absolutly no power at all. i had to have my buddies push me back out of my yard where the truck was to the road...and i tell ya...that sucks..when i parked it there i could at least move 10mph

Re: 88 s10 problems

I had the same problem it was a bad wire going to one of my enjectors. Take off ur air cleaner and make sure both are working
