Glowing red exhaust

After driving home tonight I noticed that if I look though the passenger wheelwell I could see the exhaust manifold under the heat sheild glowing red. Is this normal? I waited for it to cool off because I didnt want my car to cook. ANyone?

Wow...never noticed it on mine, but then again, I rarely do anything on the passenger side. Reminds me of watching brake rotors during a road course race.

yea I have been watching it alot and it only seams to get red when I am really beating on it. The engine temp is always around 210. Is the exhaust suppost to look crunched in a little above the rear axle?

You pretty much answered your own question..the harder you run your engine the hotter the exhaust will get and depending on how much raw fuel is left in the converter, the converter will glow.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Glowing red exhaust

i have a 2002. During the day it gets red too but you cant really see it unless it is in the shade. At first I thought it wasfrom driving it hard, but nowthat I have been checking it I noticed even if I am light on the gas it willstill get red.
