wobbly gooness...

hey, quick question, I get MAJOR wobble (have to hold the wheel as hard as humanly possible, feels like it's about to fall apart.....) at 55mph+ when I brake, and a minor wobble at 70mph - 100mph, after 100mph, it goes away (this is a 91 accord lx, with 200k miles on it) just did the rotors and pads, anyone have a good suggestion as to the next item to try?

Re: wobbly gooness...

could be a number of things....

unbalanced tires
steering components worn (ie tie rod end ball joints)

did the vibrations start after workin on the brakes?...if so...recheck work done.

improper seating of the pads
warped rotor
lug nuts not tightened down all the way

nah, it's been doing it since i bought it, and i just did the rotors and pads (and boy howdy were the rotors a pain). Can an unbalanced tire really make it shake that violently during braking? (its bad enough that we don't use the brakes over 45-55mph, unless it's an emergency) Steering sounds like it might be the culprit tho, now that you mention it, the car seems to 'wander' left and right, even when the wheel is held perfectly straight.
