Re: 1993 Grand Am alternator replacement

hello ddog8787, and Welcome. the belt has a belt tensioner. The tensioner has a Square hole in it so you can use a tool to releive the tension to remove the belt. A 3/8 ratchet fits, they also make a tool that long and slender to fit in the tight space.
You can also go here to find helpful information.

This should help you out!

Re: 1993 Grand Am alternator replacement

Not a problem! Glad to help ya. I tried to PM u back but it didnt work .

Yes ddog8787 that is a 69 GTX i'm restoring. this is my 3rd Mopar restore. My first car was a 71 sattilite, which i turned into a RoadRunner clone. the 71 Gtx, RR, and Satl. had the same body style up till i think 74. My second Mopar wasnt really a restore just clean up of a 72 Challenger, 340 six pack w/4 sp. it was started frame up but i finished peicing together, "Basket Case". All of which i let go for a small fortune.LOL! Still my favorite one's too. But the 69' i'll keep forever!
