Honda Accord EX revvs itself at idle in the mornin'

A part of me wants to think its some kind of luxury feature that warms it up for me automatically, but when I start my car in the mornin, or I should say the first start of the day, or if it's been turned off for a good amount of time...

the car revs itself over and over, for about 5 or so minutes, between the 800rpm and 1400rpm range.

O2 Sensor? I dunno. Thats why Im here!

Any help is appreciated!

Re: Honda Accord EX revvs itself at idle in the mornin'

Welcome to the forum. It deffinately sounds like you have a dirty Idle Air Control Motor. It slides a spindle back and forth in the cavity in the throttle body to allow varying amounts of air to pass through, and when the spindle gets dirty it will stick, causing bouncy idle. This is moreso true when the engine is cold, as the gunk is more solid then, and harder for the spindle to move. When the engine gets hot, it often makes the gunk elastic enough to the point where the spindle can move freely. My advice would be to pull out your IAC motor and clean the spindle end, cavity, and throttle body with some throttle body cleaner. It should solve your problem.

Great advice! I'll definately be doing that. Hey, you wouldn't happen to know where I can find the intake motor, do you?

The intake air control (IAC) motor is usually seated into a cavity in the throttle body, above the throttle plate. On most cars, it's held in by two screws. You should be able to determine where it is. Look directly above the opening on your throttle body, and you should see where it plugs in.
