I have a 99 mercury cougar v6 2.5 duratec and I keep seeing something about an ATX and MTX 2.5 is there a difference from what I have.

99 was the first year for the new generation cougar correct? The 2.0L did find its way into the early cougars, but since it was so slow especially when mated to the atx, it was eventually dropped completely.
