Re: Weird Idling Problem?

i had the same problem when i got my plug wires swapped. do u smell gas coming from the exhaust?

i know its simple but just make sure your plug wires all go to the correct places. it had me worrying about bent valves after my timing belt snapped when all it was was this. i did a compression check and got 190 across the board. i learned that you crank it like 5 times and go with the reading that is highest. if they are all close to the same it should be good.

but definately check over your wires since it is so simple.

Re: Weird Idling Problem?

Well, I managed to fix the hesitation problem. I pulled off the egr valve, and took some throttle body cleaner, and a pipe cleaner(you know, those furry little multi-colored things), and cleaned out the two ports I could see. And it seems like the cars running a lot better, as far as the hesitation in second/third gear. Still got the putting though, but I have to replace the timing belt really REALLY soon, so I'll look into checking the valves once I get all that started.

Also, the timing belt on a 98, if it goes, will my engine pretty much go too? Or is it one of those engines where the car will just stop running..
