'92 no lo-beams

Hi,

I have a '92 Tercel, and my issue is that my lo-beam headlamps are inoperative.

I installed a pair of new sealed beams(one lo-beam had already failed), and brought the car to a pretty reputable service facility.

Preparing for the likelihood that I would need a headlamp switch, I procured one from the local dealer. However, this did not fix the issue, and was returned.

I read the other headlamp question on this page (several posts below as of this post), and am wondering if my Tercel could be suffering from a similar condition.

Looking at the main fuse/relay box, I see a couple of different relays. I pulled one w/Toy #90987-4002 believing it to be the headlamp relay, but alas my hi-beams are still operative with the relay removed.

If I need to start chasing a wiring fault, I will..but I thought that I can't have been the only person to experience this condition.

Any tips will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Todd

When you do turn your headlights on do the the highbeams come on right away or do you not have any lights until you turn the highs on?

All lamps function normally(save for the lo-beam issue). High-beams come on instantly.

I have run the car with the parking lamps and activated the high-beams, and they come on instantly.

Thanks for the reply!

My 92 has a problem with the highs coming on when I turn on the left turn signal. Try pulling back on the turn signal post just a little bit with the headlights on and see if that makes the low beam come on. I don't think that I am the only one that has this problem when you turn on the blinker. Seems like I have seen someone else with the same problem but I have never taken things apart to see where the short might be.

Tried the 'post' fix. No dice.

I haven't had the time to look at it yet. Too damn hot and humid here in Georgia to even want to go out there and work on it.
