93 Trooper starting problem

My 93 Isuzu Trooper runs for about 2 seconds and then dies. The dashboard shows an O-2 logo that was not there before. I imagine the O-2 logo represents the oxygen sensor but shouldn't the car still continue to run even if the oxygen sensor is defective? Instead it will start once or twice and runs just a couple seconds and then will not start again until later. Any ideas????????????? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

have you checked your fuel pump to see if you have voltage going to the pump?

Thanks for your response..........Yes, I have checked and I do have voltage going to the pump.
