Pull my cherokee

I was told that if you brake the engine or something else, you can't pull your car with another one to the closest garage because you brake the transmission or the gear. Is it true? Is there a way to do it? Until now it never happened luckely...

Re: Pull my cherokee

well it depends on whats broken, putting the differential in neutral would also be another idea, anyways if the transmission is dissengauged from the rest of the drivetrain there shouldn't be any movement in the engine or tranmission. So no it shoudln't cause any other damage
