1983 Subaru GL/Loyale throwing oil

Was wondering if someone could help me out with this oil throwing/blowing problem my '83 Subaru GL/Loyale is having. When you open the hood of the car there is oil all on the right underside of the hood and when the car is parked it drips oil slowly out from underneath the passenger side of the engine. I have never owned a subaru before and am unsure where exactly to start, seeings how there is oil practically everywhere on the underneath and underneath of the hood. As long as I keep adding oil every three or four days it is okay. But not sure about the long-term damage it is doing. Car has 153,000 or so original miles and everything on the car works perfectly besides this problem.
