91 door

I recently bought a 94 cavalier and it has had a salvaged door off a 91. When ever I go to unlock the door It won't unlock. I figured this is because it's a 91 door it would most likely take a 91 key or the lock is disconnected. I plan on going to the local Chevy dealer and getting a 91 key made from the door number but I could be wrong. Any ideas on what to do?

Re: 91 door

Thats probably your best bet. For Obvious reasons they wouldnt make the door locks/key universal. Before you go to the chevy dealer go to a locksmith they might be able to do it cheaper. Also keep the 94 key because youll need it to start the vehicle.

Since the door/trunk lock key is different than the ignition key in Cavys, to avoid having to keep 3 seperate keys, you may eventually want to have the passenger door lock replaced as well to match the driver door. That would be my lazy way of doing it. :-)

Re: 91 door

Where is the seat belt attached on your 94? They originally were on the doors, but the 91 shouldnt have provision for them. With no mounts on the body, you shouldnt have a seat belt on that side.
