Where's the fuse for door locks on '99
Problem: Power door locks fail intermittently. Find and look at the two fuse boxes under hood (one on either side) but can't find anything that says "door locks" or "dr lk" to be in-line with how everything else is labeled.
A couple fuses aren't labeled but I'd rather not figure this out via trial & error. Anybody know which is which or where I can go and find out? (no, I don't have the owner's manual) |

Hey! Well try this: When you open up the PASSENGER SIDE door, look at the part of the dash side that sticks out. You should see a fuse box panel that has a cover on it. Pop that cover off and take a look at those fuses. Use your manual to help guide you on which fuse is which. If it wasn't under the hood fuse boxes, then it should be in this box otherwise im out of suggestions. Keep in touch on this subject.

Oh yeah, since you don't have the manual to your car, look around on the internet for a manual of sometype or diagram of fuses (for that passenger side) for your car. Having the manual would make this situation 10 times easier but I bet that there is something you can find on the internet.

Thanks Bauer! I just had to open the passenger side door and there's the "FUSE" panel. Inside the panel cover is a full diagram of the fuses.
So I disconnected it, but the door locks are still drawing power (I push the door lock and can hear it clicking in the fuse panel) and my problem is if I don't start the car every day the battery is drained. I'm sure it's the door locks malfunctioning and slowly draining power. Alternator checks fine and nothing else is goofy. Anybody ever physically disconnect the door locks? |

Were you able to solve your problem?!
I see you have had a similar or same problem I am having now with my 98 Lumina. Door locks will work a few times, but quickly degrade and no longer work after a few pushes back & forth. I can hear it clicking, but nothing else. After waiting 5 minutes or so, the locks have power again. I've checked the fuses - all are ok. I've checked what wiring I can see without tearing off the black tape and runner boot that surrounds the connections between the door & body frame. SO I am curious how your predicament ended. Please let me know! |

Did anyone ever solve this? My wife's Lumina is doing exactly the same thing!
I tried disconnecting each actuator (solenoid) one at a time. Also swapped switches. No change. Please help! Thanks! Dave Quote:

Sounds like the problem may be in the door lock relay...I have a 95 Lumina with power locks and the drivers sdoor lock does noit work. I switched the rocker switch with the passenger side to check switch and its ok, ..inspected wiring and no visible signs of short there. Passenger side switch will lock and unlock drivers side, so solenoid is good, power to drivers side switch shows 11 volts..others reading 12.5..anyone know wherre the lock relays are located?

My original problem was the intermittent door locks, and the battery would be dead in the morning some times. Apparently the way the door locks by wearing down after several on-off tries is normal, per GM mechanic. However, what was causing the battery to go dead and the door locks to be intermittent (not work at all, sometimes, not even with the clicker)was a bad door lock activator switch. Click your switches. They should have a firm response. One of mine felt mushy, (apparently never totally releasing) and after a replacement, no more dead battery, and my locks work! Hope this helps! On my LTZ, it's in the passenger side fuse block.
