Re: 1968 Pontiac Airporter

I remember those!!!!
They were wagons or sedans, but with 6 doors (3 per side) right?
Can you post some pics?

I would suggest to look up clubs or websites for people with commercial cars or commercial chassis.

By "commercial" , I mean cars that were specialized and sold to businesses, instead of the public.
Most commercial cars ended up being hearses, ambulances, limousines and sedan delivery cars.

These clubs would be thrilled to have a member or visitor with an airporter since they were never made in large numbers, and (unlike hearses) they have a low survival rate because they all got driven hard all day long then thrown away when they were worn.

Most of these club members have hearses or ambulances because their (no pun intended) survival rate was high.

Most commercial cars ended up being Cadillacs, with the odd Lincoln or Packard. However, there were commercial Pontiac chassis made for may years. From the early 50's through to the 70's, there were a small but steady stream of Pontiac hearses and ambulances produced.

Re: 1968 Pontiac Airporter

performanceyears.com has an excellent database for these cars.
I also have a book at home, and can check production numbers for you. They "lump" all the "commercial" (as previously described by MR) vehicles together, so getting specific numbers for that particular model may be impossible.
There's also Pontiac Historic Services. They can get you a copy of the "build sheet" for your particular car if you supply them the VIN and $40. You'll find them through PY or Ames Performance.
Another site that can provide you with a raft of Pontiac info is classicalpontiac.com

That thing still got the 428 in it? Cool find! It will make BIG noise at an all-Pontiac show!
