95 Park Avenue w/short somewhere??

Have a 95 PA at first the lights wouldn't turn off when car was off then a few weeks later fan blower motor wouldn't turn off. Had blower module replaced and after driving home from dealership battery dead again!! Also wouldn't start a couple of times in between the previous incidents. Attached tester light and it only goes out between negative post and neg. clamp when the ELC Misc. fuse is pulled in the max fuse/relay box under hood. What is the ELC misc. fuse and what in the world is wrong with my car??? Any suggestions as my husband is about to pull his hair out!!

ELC = electronic level control, however I thought the fuse for that was under the dash? It it could be something is going wrong with your compressor or level control switch.

Word of caution, be very carefule with that test light around any electronic devices in the car, they tend to give little 'brain boxes' a fatal seizure if you follow.

Your compressor is continually running and drianing your battery. Good sluething tho!

The compressor is on a 5 minute timed circuit. It is set to come on when the ignition is turned on or off. It is trying to level the car. If it is running enough to drain the battery, you must take many short trips and have a leak in the rear strut bladders.

The electronic level control turns on only when the key is on. AFter 30 seconds it pumps for a short time and checks to see the height sensor is in range.

If you turn the key on without starting the motor, you should not hear the pump running until about 30 seconds. Listen for it. If it's running after the car is shut off something is wrong and you would hear the loud pump running.

Well, I guess something must be wrong with my car for the 6 1/2 years I've had it because my compressor will run key on or key off every time the sensing arm closes the circuit and runs the pump for more air in the struts?

Have at least narrowed down the problem somewhat - no matter what we do when the a/c is on the compressor is on - it will not shut off even when temperature control is at 90 deg. the whole time it is on the compressor is on and running. Can relays get stuck open??? Or a short in a wire to the compressor????

I'm starting to think the body control module (little brain box computer that runs all your creature conforts) has gone kaput? Don't quote me on it, but if you have all these systems malfuntioning all at once, there's a common denomonator out of whack.

I just troubleshot the entire ELC circuit on my car at Christmas vacation. I wasn't working at all. Checked from front to back. Found one of the wires that goes through the lower trunk wall out to the connectors with the control box and compressor had broken probably from the buffeting of wind and water and snow through 5 years of driving and 110K or so miles. Moral: check circuits from trunk connecto to outside connectors first if yours doesn't work!

Disconnect the low side pressure switch on the accumulator-drier and see if the compressor goes off while the air is on and engine running.
