maintenance help
I have a 1992 Saab 9000, manual (non-turbo). As of a few days ago, the clutch pedal started "sticking". That is to say, I would press down the pedal, and it would stay stuck down towards the floor. I have to pry it back up with the tip of my shoe to get it back in the normal position. For the first day or two, it happened sporadically. Today, however, it happens every single time I press the clutch (which is getting kind of annoying).
Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks, yoni ykurland(at)gmail(dot)com |

Re: maintenance help
Take it to the shop, it sounds like your clutch master or slave cylinder is going out, or could be a leak in the lines.

Re: maintenance help
the real problem is the clutch hydraulic line deteriorated and contaminated your slave cyclinder with little plastic and rubber particles. the only fix is to replace the clutch master cyl., slave cyl., all clutch hoses (return and pressure hose), while you are at it, might as well replace the clutch since the tranny will be laying on the floor for this repair. there is a saab bulletin on this problem. saab wont pay to fix it though. call any saab parts department and they should be able tell you exactly what part numbers you need.

Re: maintenance help
it was an email from saab usa quite a few years ago to certified saab dealers. i am a saab technician and i have the inside scoop. as for it not showing up in any searches for you, it is probably because it wasnt released as a technical bulletin.
sorry for the confusion i cause by calling it a bulletin in the original post. i am just in the habit of calling everything a bulletin regardless of it being an e-mail, a bulletin, tsb, recall, or a campaign. i dont have a copy of the e-mail anymore so i cant tell you which ones it affected. i believe it was all manual transmission models. the new hoses/lines are made of a new/different material.
