lock rod removal door trim 1993 cavalier

trying to remove door trim on 1993 cavalier but cannot figure out how to remove door lock rod from sliding plastic lever under interior door handle . please help.

The lock rod snaps in back of lever. by pushing rod back and pulling left side of lever towards you it will snap free. It is hard to see but I did figure it out. Wasting time out.
