whats the difference between camaro SS and a firehawk?

anyone know the production numbers in 2002 of both of them? is there any difference between the two? which one is better in terms of performance? could the SS be upgraded in terms of suspension and differential as the firehawk could?

Re: whats the difference between camaro SS and a firehawk?

There were different levels of modification for the Firehawk and The SS I think came rated at 325 hp, Both of them were still left with plenty of room for improvement and they are basically the same car, so neither would out perform the other hands down. Infact like is often said and very true. You can take cars made exactly the same with the same options one made right behind the other and run them and one will just be faster. Thats the way it is. As for production numbers. I have read that SLP hasn't released the production numbers for 02 yet but that was a few months ago so with some research they may be out now.

Same cars.

Other than maybe a slightly less restrictive exhaust on the Firehawk.

Re: whats the difference between camaro SS and a firehawk?

Actually, SS and Formula are more comparable. Firehawk is a low-production car with more "bells and whistles". TransAm and Z-28 are also reasonable comparisons. I'd be interested in the production numbers for Formula. In the late '90s, it was considered the best performer of the factory F-bodies.
FWIW, SS and Formula are a bit lighter than T/A and Z... Less frills, more goodies.

Eh...

I have said it before, and I will say it again.
Any stock LS1 car can beat any other given stock LS1 car depending on day and driver.
Trim level doesn't matter much. The Z and the Formula have a slight weight advantage.

And yet they are all the same exact motor.
The SLP optioned cars don't have much advantage over any other car. They are a little heavier, but do have a little more power thanks to the exhaust and lid. Thats it.

Re: whats the difference between camaro SS and a firehawk?

M6 cars got the 3.42 gears.
Auto were either 2.73's or 3.23's. I might be off a little on those. I think the 3.23 was an option.

Suspension is softer on the Z and Formula. The SS/WS.6/SLP cars I think were all the same suspension. 1LE if I am not mistaken.
