Radio

Hi, I have a 93 Cavalier and want to put in a CD player. I can get a cheap stock radio out of a 2000 Cavalier from the local junkyard. I was wondering whether it would fit, and if so how to wire it in (I'm assuming that the plugs to the old AM/FM cassette player won't fit in the newer CD player). Thanks for all of the help.

Type of radio I have:

Type of radio (I think) the junkyard has:

Re: Radio

Funny, i'm planning on launching the deck you want to put in. They are such junk i wouldn't bother if i was you. Mine comes up with errors all the time when tyring to play cd's. Flashes "err" every once in a while and won't play cd's for a week. Than magically it will play one again. You might as well spend your money wisely and get an aftermarket deck.

I know it wouldn't be a top of the line CD player, but I'm still in high school and don't have any money to spend on something nice. Also, I've never done a radio before and was hoping I would get lucky and all of the plugs would be the same for both radios. The less there is to be screwed up, the less that I'll screw it up.

Re: Radio

it would be cheaper in the long run to just buy a aftermarket deck and wire harness and set that up instead...its not hard to install either...just read the instructions..cuz if you buy that deck your gonna install it and then 6 months to a year your gonna need to replace it again...go aftermarket dude

Re: Radio

also if you read the info it says at the bottom of the player that you want to get you would have to pay the dealership to program it anyways...Attention: This player has Anti-Theft SECURITY CODE which must be obtained from dealership to unlock the player. Also certain radios must be reprogram at Dealership to interchange.
We cannot provide the code, however we will include the VIN # of the vehicle the radio came from.

Ok, do you know any good ones then? Something thats cheap but reliable. I need to get a CD player because I am tired of listening to 30 year old tapes in my car.
