99 Windstar tranny shudder at 1-2 shift

My 99 windstar has 80,000 miles on it. It exhibits a distinct and consistent shudder when it upshifts from 1st to 2nd when under hard acceleration. Doesn't do it under moderate accel. I searched this forum (I am new to this one) but cannot find this problem mentioned. Does anyone have any ideas on the cause and fix? Thanks for any help.

Re: 99 Windstar tranny shudder at 1-2 shift

There was a TSB on hard shifts from 1-2 primarily when going around corners and accelerating. Not the same as you describe, but the fix was easy and you could give it a try. It recommended getting the ATF up to the top of the hash mark on the dipstick rather than midway.

I have the same thing with my 95 , It's been doing this for a year and a
half now. Mine does it more at start up and really bad in the winter.
IT's been looked at many times and was told that it isnt electrical no code ever can up it would have to be opened up to know what the problem is.sorry I dont have any info, but if you get some please sent me it.
my van is too old for a new tranny and too nice a shape to send to the grave.
best of luck with yours...
