2001 sonoma 2.2l flex air pump malfunction symptoms

my computer coded out a p0410 wich is a secondary air injection malfuntion. my question is will the air pump going bad cause the truck to miss and sputter especially at lower rpms......any info would be greatly appreciated.....my local dealership wants $200 bucks for the new pump and i dont want to replace it if its not the problem
