"Natural Gas Vehicle"

I have a 1999 Ranger 4WD that is labeled as a natural gas vehicle. What does this mean? Can I convert it to natural gas? Is that an economicly sound decision? How can I find more information about it? I googled for it, but didn't find much so any help would be appreciated.
