TAX Exempt 1971, 1300 Beetle with 1600 Engine for Sale

White 1971 1300 Beetle with 1600 Engine

Good Points:
  • Reconditioned lowered front beam
  • Front beam fitted with sway-a-way so you can change the hight with 2 bolts
  • New steering damper and new front brake lines
  • Fitted with reconditioned front disc brakes (requires new brake pads)
  • Great enterior, with all carpets, door cards
  • Original seats in great condition no rips or tears
  • Empi quick shift (comes with spare original gear stick)
  • Chrome running boards (comes with spare original black running boards)
  • Parcel shelf with fitted speakers
  • Electric screen wash
  • Tax exempt
  • Loads of history

Engine:
Standard 1600 engine, with Solex carb with tower air filter (see pick)
Newly fitted; coil, HT leads, spark plugs, air filter, oil air filter,

glass fuel filter and fan belt
New Exhaust and heat exchangers
All fuel pipes replaced with new jubilee clips
Recent oil change and new oil gaskets fitted (only done 1mile with new oil)

Very little work is needed to pass MOT:
  • Fill and bleed brake system
  • Replace both heater channels
  • Replace rear quarters of both floor pans and jacking points, see pik
  • Fibreglass or replace bottom of front valance, see pik
  • Passengers side needs attention / filling door and quitter on passengers side, see pik

Bad Points:
Well pretty much as above.
Needs new heater channels (You could patch but always best to replace with new).
Needs patching/welding on the floor pans on the jacking point area on both sides. You will need to get an outer quarters section of the floor
pan for both sides, the rest of the floor pan is solid. It's just rusted where the end of the heater channels are. Had some rust under both rear air vents, this is prevention, rather then reconstruction see pik. Also there has been the same on the passengers side door and rear quarter.

If I remember correctly, the 1300 cc engine was made for the '66 VW Bug and was a 6 volt system. The 1967 VW Bug was 1500 cc and a 12 volt system. Where did you get a '71 with a 1300 cc engine?
