Profec B SpecII vs Profec B Type-S

http://greddy.com/prod_profecb2.htm

http://greddy.com/prod_proftype-s.htm

I found various threads on which EBC to chose and why, and I know Kevin loved his original profec B (except for the limited boost he could run on it), but does anyone know the difference in performance between the above two? Being priced almost the same and doing the same thing, its confusing to see why they came out with two models that are so similar. Obviously the spec II has an LCD, and the type-S doesn't (for the smart asses out there), but what else? I've seen quite a few positive reviews about the spec II, but none on the type-S.

Re: Profec B SpecII vs Profec B Type-S

Well in my opinion I would go with the one with the LCD display. I have a Blitz EBC and the functions are very similar to the spec2. The resone why I would go with the spec2 is because it has a boost limiter which will help you from over boosting. I also like the feature that lets you see your peek boost which I use all the time. But for more info on this stuff I would wait for boostedspyder to help you out!

But a EBC is a very good investment in my opinion. You dont have to get out of your car to run more boost, you can change the boost within your reach!

Re: Profec B SpecII vs Profec B Type-S

I have the Greddy Profec E-01, its an ebc plus a bunch of other things, i got mine for about $450. It can also be used to program the greddy e-manage. if you're spending that mcu on an ebc why not?

I would take either one over my mbc.

Re: Profec B SpecII vs Profec B Type-S

another oldie i never saw. if this subject has already been beaten, lock it up.

quick explaination:

type-s

retard simple. 3 knobs: trim, hi, lo. 1 button: hi/lo

trim is the magic knob, you turn it up for faster response and find the spot right before you start to spike. you want it like nanometers prior to spike, mabey even a teeeeeny bit of spike for shits and giggles.

hi: up for more boost. duh. supposedly good to ~32psi.

lo. up for more boost. duh. i capped out a max of about 18psi with the fully cranked lo setting.

trim changes for hi/lo settings, so you have to remember that and remember to change it accordingly. mine was +3 notches [things you feel when you turn the knob] for the lo setting.

Profec B Spec-2

there are many many EBC's out there now. for the size of this thing i still think it's the best. i got suckerd into the Type-S because it was the new kid on the block and my B2 got jacked with my stereo. they are going to burn in hell for stealing my shit i hope. another story, moving on.

i loved that this EBC. it took some learning to master, and was a bit frustrating at times [why can't you just plug in a PSI and be done!?!?!] but the col blue glow and the red warning was really cool. i loved his thing and wished everyday that i would have just gotten another one instead of the Type-S. ah well.

see here for a great tuning guide for it:

don't get me wrong, the Type-S is still a magnificent beast, simple as all hell and works perfectly, no thinking neccesary. but ther ewas something about the actual 'tuning' aspect of the B2. it just grew on ya. and the look was 1000 times better as well.
