Unhappy 79..Running Too Hot... What do I do??

I bought a 79 vet with 38,000 original miles. I cant seem to get it running cooler. It usually at 200-230. Can anyone help me??

flush the system?
you bought it, odds are, it might have the original glycol in it from '79...
also, change the thermostat. it probably DOES have the original in it.
swap it out for a good aftermarket all-season (180-185 deg) t-stat.
then post back and let us know what else...

if these items have already been addressed, check that the radiator hoses aren't clogged, or impeded...

Another thing to look at if ctesla,s ideas have already been addressed is check the clutch fan ,,see if your fan spins real easy or is a little loose,,they are supposed to spin a little hard then as the temp gets hot they have a little spring in the middle of the clutch that allows them to spin free or lock up so to speak.If they spin real easy while engine is not running then it should be replaced.
