1998 740i stalling

I have a 1998 740i with 99K miles. I have been having trouble starting the car. It starts, then imediately dies. This happens multiple times, then eventually starts, runs rough for a minute, then runs ok. It happens mostly in the morning but happens other times as well. Sometimes it starts fine in the morning. Also, a couple times the car suddenly died while driving. Its like someone just switched it off. It usually takes a few minutes to start when that happens.

Error codes: 0340 consistently (after several resets), 0430, 0300, and 0505 as well

service 2 was done 20k miles ago. one cam position sensor has also been recently replaced.

Thanks for any suggestions
Chas

Stalling

A couple of things i would try:

1. Drop a bottle of water out, HEET, dry gas in the tank to eliminate andy condensation.

2. Check the electrcial connector on the Idle Control Vavle to ensure it is on tight.

I had rugh idle, stalling, etc on a E30 and it was the ICV connector. I also took the ICV off and sprayed throttle body cleaner into the valve as a clean out item.
